Yesterday (Saturday, July 23rd) I was able to spend the day with Panama Wedding and take some photos of them at the Mo Pop music festival in Detroit, MI., but it was never planned. The story starts out with me being in Detroit on Friday for my last date on the Vans Warped Tour (Warped blog post coming soon). I was scheduled to fly back to Nashville at 6 AM with Southwest on Saturday morning and when I arrived to the airport my flight was canceled. The girl at the desk spent about 10 minutes trying to get me on another fight but due to the issues Southwest has been having, she couldn't get me on any flights back until today. At first I was really upset but realized there was nothing I could do about it so I opened up the Bands In Town app (great app, every music lover should have it) and looked up who was playing in town that night. As I was swiping down I came across a name I just spent a couple of weeks on tour with. Panama Wedding was the opener on the Hotline Spring Tour with Magic Man and The Griswolds. A few emails later I found myself down at the Mo Pop music festival spending the day hanging out with them. Fran, who plays the keys in Magic Man, was also in town for the festival so we had a Hotline Spring Tour reunion. Looking back, I'm glad my flight was canceled, I wouldn't have asked to spend yesterday any other way.
Below are photos from the day! All photos were taken with a Canon 5D Mark iii and a Sigma 50mm 1.4 lens.
Take a minute to look up their music, I'm sure you'll fall in love with it like I did! Thanks Panama Wedding for having me out! #snowgoose.
